Back in the saddle (collin)

Thank you all for your kind thoughts, prayers, and emails. I am feeling MUCH better and we are getting ready to head back up to Kwale to keep working through the details of the potential project.

My illness has mostly passed now. I still don't know for sure what it was or how I got it, but I have not been that sick in as long as I can remember. Over time I suppose I have come to take my general good health for granted, but now I feel truly thankful for every minute that I am not violently throwing up.

After I wrote about being so busy the other day, we received several emails from people telling us that we needed to "take a sabbath" in order to keep ourselves from burning out. As funny as this may sound, the past 2 days of being sick has forced us both to stay in and rest up. We feel restored and excited to be heading back out to do what we came here to accomplish.

Praise God! Glad to know you are feeling better. Blessings on you both.

I like how you put "take a sabbath" in quotations, like you're not quite sure it's for real.

I thought I'd give you some more advice: Try to "to murder anyone" or "commit adultery." I hear those can really put a damper on things.

So relieved you are feeling better, Collin. And I'm glad that Lindsay, you are feeling rested. This isn't how I wanted you to have a sabbath, but I'm glad you both had a chance to rest. We are concerned and praying for you both to have strength and health. May the rest of your mission be full of health.

It's so awesome to see our prayers get answered in a place that is so far away from where we are... Hopefully this experience will help all of us that want to stay involved in the Kwale project to continue to pray regularly for the people and ministries that you are getting to know now.

HA HA... That was funny Jase. "Taking a sabbath" just sounds so religious in an old testament sort of way. I guess I don't really think about it very often with 2 day weekends built into a normal American schedule.

Yeah I definitely agree with you, of all the 10 Commandments, the Sabbath one is one that seems very voluntary... I know I don't really pay much attention to it. I figure I'm lazy enough that I get at least a day's worth of rest in a week.

We have some Mormon friends, and they won't even watch sports or play video games on Sunday. And they fast on the Sabbath too.

Now THAT's stressful.

I'm glad you're feeling better! Now, just remember to take some time to rest during the next couple weeks BEFORE you end up sick again!! :)

I think Satan invented scare quotes with his fruit sales pitch: Did God really say you would "surely die" if you ate that fruit? You won't "surely die." You'll be like God! Wow, he was good, er, bad.

Jason, you've hit upon a growing Christian paradigm: The Gradual Sabbath, which is slowly gaining on The Optional Sabbath.

Glad you're feeling better, Collin.

I've just been catching up on your blog the last 2 days after Bill Odders gave me the site. So glad to hear you are recovering from this illness. Sounds like it was really rough! Praying that the Lord will give you strength, wisdom, energy, relationships, open doors, and His vision as you continue your journey in Kenya. You guys are an inspiration!
